Kyle Turner
Tuba

Kyle Turner is Professor of Tuba at Purchase College, State University of New York. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, he has lived and freelanced in New York City for more than 27 years. In addition to being principal tuba with the American Symphony and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Mr. Turner is a top call freelance tuba player in the City of New York.

As an orchestral musician, Mr. Turner has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, American Composers Orchestra and New York Philharmonic, with whom he performed over 500 concerts as interim principal tuba from 2001-2004. He currently substitutes with the Philadelphia Orchestra

Mr. Turner has performed with some of the world’s greatest musicians, including Luciano Pavarotti, Midori, YoYo Ma, John Williams, Wynton Marsalis, Andre Previn, Paul McCartney, Dave Brubeck, James Taylor, Metallica, Cold Play at the 45th Grammy Awards. He also performs with the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra, numerous Broadway show orchestras and on many major motion picture soundtracks, radio and television commercials, including Live from Lincoln Center Broadcasts. He can also be heard on over 25 records, including his first solo recording called “Expressions, The Heart of the Tuba”.

Before joining New York Chamber Brass , Mr. Turner's brass chamber music experience has been extensive having performed with Canadian Brass, German Brass, Harmonic Brass of Munich, Solid Brass and the American Horn Quartet.
